More information
Built in the heart of the Saintonge countryside, it proudly erects its magnificent bell tower at the turn of the road. Deteriorated by multiple wars, it offers an exceptional range of architecture from the 12th to the 18th centuries. The Abbey of Sablonceaux consists of an abbey church famous for its bell tower and Romanesque domes on the nave, from the monks wing to the 1st floor where we find the cells of the religious, to a majestic American walnut tree, classified as a remarkable tree. The Chapter Room was recently restored and was used by the Chapter. It is also possible to visit the grain attic and its magnificent frame.
