Founded in 1111, the abbey is located in a green and peaceful valley. Exceptional in the area, it combines the austere Romanesque in the chapels and the luminous Gothic in the chapter house and the parlour. Fontdouce has been restored for more than 40 years and organizes each year exhibitions, concerts, training courses (songs, calligraphy…) and a lot of various animations.

More information
Exhibitions and themed treasure hunts are organized throughout the season.
For children, several treasure hunts are available:
Game of stones:
Colorful and mischievous, funny spirits, the Naïos, have ventured into the gardens of Fontdouce. It's up to you to find them, photograph them and, depending on your results, follow your ranking on Facebook!
In search of the Abbey's treasures! (for ages 5-9):
This fun trail lets children linger over the details of each of the Abbey's rooms while following the tour circuit. With the help of a necklace containing 15 laminated photos of the Abbey and its exterior, children will have to open their eyes wide to find out where the 15 photos were taken from.
Petits Meurtres à Fontdouce! (ages 9-13):
In 1305, just as the King of France was about to meet the future Pope in the greatest secrecy at Fontdouce, a novice was found dead in the gardens... Who could have had it in for this young man who was soon to become a monk? What was the motive?
It's up to you to discover the culprit from among the 6 suspects, using the various riddles and clues to be found in the Abbey's rooms.
And let's not forget "On the Trail of the Templars" and "A Curious Legacy", outdoor escape games for more experienced players! Reservations required, for groups of 3 or more.
